		<description>Hi Mr.Orma
Please be aware that not doing something that would have negative effects on Mr. Khatami.
He is open minded, friendly, peacemaker politician.
Minority group in Iran are against his manner and majority believe that he didn’t do anything wrong.
People in Iran still look at him as a hero. Somebody who can finally bring peace to Middle East.
So, please do not faint this hope and finish this ridiculous story.
Thanks

<description>First of all - welcome to Sounds Iranian, and &#039;mille grazie&#039; for your willingness to discuss the Khatami affair openly with us in this forum.

The recent events, to my mind, reflect the mind-boggling interconnectedness of the world today. Who would have guessed that one short video from Italy could have such a disruptive effect in both Iran and the global Iranian/Muslim diaspora.

None of this could have been happened, it seems, without the incredibly recent changes in digital media technology that we already take for granted. The form and the content are now blurred.

To add some life to this thread, I&#039;d be interested in hearing about three aspects of the whole issue in some more detail:

One, to our new Italian colleague, what was the basic premise of Khatami&#039;s visit to Udine, and how did the video get filmed, then posted?

Two - to anyone who&#039;s been reading the Iranian press - what has been the nature and extent of the reaction to the affair in Iran?

Three - to everyone - what do you think the political consequences of Khatami&#039;s apparent impending trial could be (if any)? What lessons about the impact of digital media can we draw from this particular event?

All new posts and comments are welcome.
